VAMPIRES LITHOGRAPH
This project marked my first experience working with printmaking techniques. During the course, I was introduced to both screen printing and lithography. While I ultimately found screen printing to be the technique I gravitated toward most, I also found lithography to be a valuable and engaging process to learn. Gaining familiarity with lithographic methods broadened my understanding of traditional printmaking practices and expanded the range of techniques available within my creative toolkit.
One aspect of printmaking that I particularly appreciate is its tactile quality. The hands-on nature of the process provides a physical engagement with materials that contrasts with the more abstract nature of digital workflows. As someone who frequently works in digital media, the opportunity to create work through a physical process was especially rewarding. Printmaking offers a meaningful balance, allowing me to reconnect with material-based creation while still informing and complementing my digital practice.
The final piece is a two-color print, intentionally designed to support a focused exploration of the lithography process. Limiting the palette allowed me to concentrate more closely on the technical and procedural aspects of the medium, including layering, registration, and the interaction between the two printed colors. This constraint encouraged a deeper understanding of the method while also reinforcing thoughtful decision-making within the design.
